Intro Gradient Mesh
8+ hour gradient mesh process to replicate melted gold. With @matt_lange track #LEnnui from the album #isolated leading the movement. Was the perfect track to watch the process to. I’m a big fan of his work. Go check him out! 👆🏽👆🏽
The #Technique 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
#Photoshop—Rendered out a dark brass texture on to an OBJ skull model. Adjusted proportions to fit the subject. Masked out the subject to expose gold skull.
#ByHand— made a print, and with pencil drew out what would be gold melting around the skull exposure line. “in my mind” Then scanned a copy of the drawing.
#Illustrator— with the scanned drawing, used the gradient mesh tool to create the look of melted gold.
Then back to
#Photoshop—to mask with brushes, adjust color, overlays and lighting for final.
Background text is #сказка meaning "Fairytale" in Russian.

Talk about OCD and perfectionism. Couldn’t quite get what I was going for in my mind with other programs such as #blender. So, decided to stick with this process even though it wasn’t 100%. Sometimes you gotta say “it’s done!” and move on to the next piece of work.
A good friend suggested I shorten it. “You see one drip you’ve seen them all” I totally agree! If you would like to see the short version check out my insta.
